5. Because I want to begin to talk to you about two kinds of trees.

6. They are in contrast to each other,

7. One of those trees grows in the middle east,

8. And the other type of tree grows in the tropics.

9. The tree that grows in the middle east looks like an olive tree,

10. It takes the same space as the olive tree,

11. It absorbs the same vast amount of sunlight,

12. It uses the same soil as the olive tree.

13. Yet,

14. It produces no olives,

15. It is called the oleaster tree.

16. Then there is another type of tree that grows in the tropics,

17. This particular tree is very tall,

18. It’s trunk is very wide,

19. It’s branches are widespread,

20. All of this makes it to be a glorious tree in terms of shade and beauty.

21. It’s branches reach out and down to the ground,

22. Whenever the tips of the branches touch the earth,

23. They take root and a new tree springs up,

24. This tree is called the banyan tree.

25. During this broadcast,

26. I want to challenge you to ask yourself this question,

27. What kind of tree does my life resemble?

28. Are you a look-alike type of tree that takes in the Word of God,
是不是像那棵外表相似,实质却不同的树?你听了神的话语,
29. The grace of God,
得到神的恩典,
30. The love of God,
得到神的慈爱,
31. And the blessings of God,
得到神所赐的福,
32. And produce nothing except hyperactivity.
却没有结出果实,只是虚有其表。
33. Or are you the tree that the moment it touches others you impact their life for God.
又或许,你是另一棵树,一旦被你接触到的人,为了神的缘故,你就能影响他们的生命。
34. Is you life like the oleaster tree?
你的生命像不像野橄榄?
35. That looks busy from the outside doing things for God.
他们外表看起来非常忙碌地为神做工。
36. Does your life on the outside look active and involved?
你的生命是不是也看起来很活跃,很忙碌?
37. And then when you look inside or you look closer you find no fruit.
但当你仔细看到自己的里面时,你却空洞无实。
38. Or is your life like the banyan tree,
或许,你的生命像榕树,
39. Tree that spreads and spreads and multiplies itself in the lives of others.
这树不断延伸,在他人的生命中繁衍生长。
40. Only you can answer these questions.

41. As we look to this next to the last of the I Am sayings of Jesus.

42. I want you to turn with me to John chapter 15,

43. There we will see what Jesus had to say about the trees and the branches.
我们要看耶稣是怎么说树和枝子的。
44. We saw in the last message,

45. How Jesus told his disciples,
耶稣告诉门徒,
46. That he is the way, the truth, and the life.
祂是道路、真理、生命。
47. He told them this in order to comfort their troubled hearts.

48. And here Jesus continues as he takes them away from the upper room into the Kidron Valley.
当耶稣带着门徒离开吃最后晚餐的楼房,往汲伦谷去时,祂继续地讲。
49. The last words of chapter 14 were this:

50. Let us go from this place!

51. As they sat down again, they were probably near the vineyard,

52. Perhaps they sat down near the beautiful gate of the temple,

53. On top of the gate was engraved a vine,
门顶上刻着葡萄树,
54. Which is the nation symbol for Israel.
是以色列国的象征。
55. There Jesus continued to calm their bewilderment.

56. To calm their chilled hearts,
为了安抚他们忧伤的心,
57. To soothe their ruffled spirits,

58. Therefore Jesus said:

59. I am the vine the true one,

60. And you are the branches,
你们是枝子,
61. Abide in me.

62. By his very adding of the word true, Jesus implies that there are false vines,
耶稣特意加上”真”这个字,表明有假的葡萄树;
63. Or vines that have proceeded him that are now being superseded by him.
或者是那些在祂之前,如今被祂超越的葡萄树。
64. Israel in the Old Testament was described as a vine,
旧约中,以色列被称为葡萄树,
65. And the vine became their national symbol.
于是葡萄树便成为他们的民族象征。
66. Any Gentile who wanted to come to God, had to come to Him through Israel.
外邦人想要亲近神,必须通过以色列。
67. I want to encourage you to read Isaiah 5,
我鼓励大家去读以赛亚书第5章,
68. Or Jeremiah 2,
或是耶利米书第2章,
69. And Ezekiel 15, 17, and 18.
以西结书15,17,18章。
70. There you will see that Israel as a nation was called the vine,
你会看到以色列被称为葡萄树,
71. It was a vine that has failed to bear fruit,
她曾是一棵不结果子的葡萄树;
72. It was a vine that kept God’s message to itself,
一棵不传神信息的葡萄树;
73. It was a vine that failed to be a light to the nation,
一棵没有成为世界之光的葡萄树;
74. It was a vine that became inward looking and self-centered,
一棵自我中心,自私的葡萄树;
75. It was a vine that became preoccupied with rituals and cold formalities,
一棵被各样繁文缛节所捆绑的葡萄树;
76. It was a vine that ceased to proclaim Yahweh as the Lord of all.
一棵不宣扬耶和华为万主之主的葡萄树。
77. And that is why Jesus declared that he now, he is the vine, the true one.
这就是为什么耶稣要说,祂才是真葡萄树。
78. If you carefully read the gospel of Matthew,
你如果很仔细地读过马太福音,
79. You notice how Jesus contrasts Israel as the son who went astray.
你就会注意到,耶稣和以色列这个背叛的儿子形成鲜明的对比。
80. A disobedient son who ceased to fulfill its call,
一个不听呼召的悖逆之子,
81. But Jesus on the other hand is the good son.
而耶稣是一个好儿子。
82. The true son,
真正的儿子,
83. The obedient son,
顺服的儿子,
84. Who was obedient unto death.
存心顺服,以至于死。
85. Jesus is the true vine because he is the only way to the father.
耶稣是真葡萄树,因为祂是唯一通向天父的道路。
86. What a comfort this must have been to the troubled hearts of the disciples!
这对忧虑的门徒来说,是多大的安慰啊!
87. Jesus said, I am the vine, the true one,
耶稣说:我是葡萄树,真葡萄树,
88. And you are the branches.
你们是枝子。
89. Here’s what he was saying,
祂是在说,
90. To you I am giving the great commission,
我给你们一个大使命,
91. It is you whom I am commissioning to preach the great gospel,
我要你们去传福音给万民听,
92. To you I am looking for much fruit and not Israel the nation.
我盼望你们能多结果子,而不是让以色列这个国家结果子。
93. And our great commission is this:
我们的大使命就是:
94. To make Jesus known,
耶稣被传与外邦,
95. To bring men and women to his feet.
带领人们来到祂的脚前。
96. To declare to the community and the world that we are not a ritualistic community,
向全世界宣布,我们不是死守仪文条款的团体,
97. Not a traditionalist community,
也不是传统主义的团体,
98. We are not self-centered community,
我们也不是以自我为中心的团体,
99. We are to preach Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life.
我们是在传耶稣,祂就是道路、真理、生命。
SECTION B
乙部
1. We are to offer Jesus as the only satisfaction to humans deepest needs.
我们提供可以满足人类最深层需要的唯一途径,就是耶稣。
2. We are to present Jesus as the only answer to humanities problems.
我们表明,解决人类所有问题的唯一答案就是耶稣。
3. We are to declare Jesus as the all-sufficient of humanities confusion and struggle.
我们宣称,耶稣足以解决人类一切的迷惑和挣扎。
4. We are to call for men and women and say, come and meet the one who healed us,
我们号召所有的人来到这位大能的医治者面前,
5. Meet the one who forgave us,
来认识这位宽恕我们的;
6. Meet the one who delivered us,
来认识这位拯救我们的;
7. Meet the one who accepted us unconditionally,
来认识这位无条件接受我们的;
8. Meet the one who loves us and sticks to us closer than a brother.
来认识这位比亲兄弟更亲,更爱我们的耶稣。
9. Come see our love for one another that stems from his love for us.
来看我们之所以能彼此相爱,乃是因为祂先爱了我们。
10. Can God take this commission away from us?
神能把这使命拿走吗?
11. Absolutely.
当然可以。
12. If we decide to play church,
如果我们要欺哄教会,
13. If we decide to get God to follow our agenda,
如果我们要神来顺从我们,
14. If we become a maintenance operation for a church program,
如果我们把教会的事奉变为一种例行的公事,
15. God would put us on the shelf and use somebody else.
神就不再用我们,而兴起别人来。
16. If God did not hesitate to withdraw his commission from his people Israel,
如果神毫不犹豫地把大使命从以色列民身上拿走,
17. Do you think he would hesitate for a moment to withdraw it from us?
你认为祂对我们就会有所犹豫吗?
18. I am the vine, the true one said Jesus,
耶稣说,我是真葡萄树,
19. And you are the branches.
你们是枝子。
20. Jesus was telling his disciples,
耶稣是在告诉门徒,
21. That because he is going to the Father
因为祂就要去见天父了,
22. And the world will not be able to hear his words.
世界不能再听到祂的话。
23. That are coming out of his lips.
我是指,听到祂亲口说话。
24. Therefore the world should hear Jesus’ words from their lips.
所以,世界就要从门徒的口中听到耶稣的话。
25. Jesus is saying this,
耶稣是说,
26. I will not physically be here to manifest the holiness of the Father,
我的肉身将不在这里,继续彰显天父的圣洁荣美,
27. But you must do that.
但你们却要如此行。
28. I will not physically be here to declare the righteousness of the Father,
我虽不能亲自宣称神的公义,
29. But you must do that.
但你们却要如此行。
30. I will not physically be here to tell of the love of the Father,
我虽不能亲自传播天父的慈爱,
31. But you must do that.
但你们却要如此行。
32. In declaring Jesus to the world,
将耶稣传与世界,
33. We have the assurance that he will supply us with his power.
我们相信祂会赐我们能力。
34. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must abide in the vine,
正如枝子必须连于葡萄树才能结果子,
35. So neither can you unless you abide in the vine,
我们也必须连接在树上,
36. And the vine is Jesus.
而耶稣就是那葡萄树。
37. Just as the branch depends on the vine for the nutrients that comes out of it,
就像枝子依靠葡萄树供应养分,
38. So are we in our relationship with Jesus.
我们与耶稣的关系也是如此。
39. Our unity with Jesus is not a mechanical juxtaposition,
我们与耶稣的联合,并不是像机械上零件的连接,
40. But it is an organic unity,
而是一种生理上的连接,
41. Just as the branch and the vine are organically united,
正如枝子和葡萄树在生理上是连为一体的,
42. So must all the branches who want to bear fruit.
所以,所有想要结果的枝子都要这样。
43. We are one with Christ when we adopt his purpose to be our purpose,
我们以基督的目的为目的时,我们就与祂连为一体;
44. We are one with Christ when his goal becomes our goal,
我们以基督的目标为目标时,我们就与祂连为一体;
45. We are one with Christ when his agenda becomes our agenda,
我们以基督的计划为计划时,我们就与祂连为一体;
46. We are one with Christ when his perspective becomes our perspective.
我们以基督的观点为观点时,我们就与祂连为一体。
47. And that is why Jesus said that the Father is the gardener.
这就是为什么耶稣说,天父是栽培者。
48. You see, the gardener has a way of taking care of the branches.
我们知道,园丁懂得怎么修理枝子。
49. He has his own way of watching over it so that it doesn’t go off on it’s own private agenda.
祂知道怎么照管枝子,使枝子不至于自作主张,一意孤行。
50. Because the good gardener is very interested in producing good fruit,
因为好的园丁很注重枝子结出好的果子,
51. Much fruit.
并多结果子。
52. When you and I try to get off on a tangent,
当你我想要另找出路,
53. When you and I try to pull our branches in the wrong direction,
当你我想要朝错误的方向去生长时,
54. The vine dresser comes in,
修剪枝子的人就来了,
55. And he prunes those unnecessary and unproductive shoots.
祂修理干净那些多余,不结果的枝子。
56. Let me tell you about what horticulturists tell us.
让我们来听听园艺专家所说的吧。
57. They tell us that the vine tends to produce certain shoots called sucker shoots,
他们说,葡萄树很容易结出一些叫做吸血鬼的枝子,
58. These shoots often grow where the branches join the stem.
这些枝子总长在枝子与主干相连的地方。
59. If these sucker shoots are allowed to continue to grow,
如果让吸血鬼枝子不断长大,
60. They would dissipate the life of the vine,
他们就会吸走葡萄树的养分,
61. And the vine would produce only leaves and no grapes.
葡萄树就光长叶子,却不结果子。
62. The good vine dresser makes sure that he must prune these suckers to ensure fruit,
好园丁就会修剪干净这些枝子,以确保果子的生长,
63. And this is what the Father does in our lives.
这就是天父在我们的生命中所做的。
64. He trims off the troublesome shoots in our lives,
祂修理干净我们生命中有毛病的枝子,
65. In order that we may be productive.
使我们可以结果子。
66. Often times pruning looks and feels painful,
通常,修理会带来痛苦;
67. Often times pruning looks and feels merciless,
通常,修理会让人感到残忍;
68. Often times pruning looks and feels wasteful,
通常,修理会让人觉得浪费;
69. But you see, with God there is no random cutting,
但是你要知道,上帝绝不会徒劳无功的,
70. Nothing he trims away that is not for our good.
祂所修剪的,没有一样不是为了我们的好处的。
